This week, Ken Wunderlin, our Pittsburgh Regional Manager, recommends the Octane Fitness Q47xi elliptical. With its self-adjusting stride for every individual user (SmartStride), Octane has engineered one of the most intuitive cross trainers on the market. Ken's favorite workout program is the MMA option combined with SmartStride, and he says, “it's my favorite cardio workout in the entire store.”
Bio-mechanically, the Q47xi is light years ahead of the competition. With its multi-grip converging arm path, and 1.8” pedal spacing, a user can comfortably use the machine for long periods of time and frequently, without having to worry about common discomforts on other trainers, such as excessively leaning forward, or sheer stress on the knees.
“I love Octane's upper body motion compared to anyone else's,” says Ken. “It really gets my top half involved in the exercise instead of just giving me somewhere to hold on to. The stride length changes in a range of 18” to 26”, which allows for accommodation of users of any size, but more importantly also adjusts for speed variation /muscle targeting. Very well done.”
In addition, Octane has worked feverishly to develop proprietary content on their tie-in app for tablets and mobile devices called Smartlink, which connects to the Q47xi via Bluetooth. Ken says its “the best in the business, providing coaching that is interactive, goal-driven and fun. Not to mention, the app is FREE!”
